HOSTAL NICOLAS NADER
|
Located in the center of the Colonial City of Santo Domingo Hostal Nicolas Nader. Antique charm - a rarity in Santo Domingo's hotels - reigns at the 500-year-old home of the city's first governor, where fountains spout in colonnaded courtyards. In the "New World's oldest hotel," the decor is Spanish mahogany, and the restaurant serves Dominican fare. The casino and pool are modest, and the neighborhood (deserted by night) is a deterrent to some. Bask here in history, not luxury. AC.Another distinguishing trait is the ability that the whole place has to attract crowds that makes interaction between tourists of the hotel and natives possible without going to far away from the inn. This is so because the doors of the Bar Don Roberto are open everyday from 5 PM until the last costumer departs. Those staying at the hostal may use the bar from 10 AM until closing time. During the weekends the hostal is usually bombarded by an adolescent public and it's not unusual to hear a live band performing while a more adult group of people may be found most likely on weekdays after 6 PM. Rates per person, per night, BB (Bed and Breakfast plan) and taxes included.
