History of
Colonial Tour and Travel
In 1993, Mr. Tony de Leon who worked for the hotels Barcelo
Bavaro had already accumulated a wealth of experience having
worked in many sectors of the tourism industry as airlines,
travel agencies and hotels decided it was time to start a
tourist activity. Perceiving as many international tour
operators coming into the country with no DMC representation
in the Dominican Republic witch was still in the process of
organization and institutionalization. He communicated this
idea to Maria Grazia Battaglia another professional with
extensive experience in tourism and at that time was working
as the Area Chief of I Viaggi del Ventaglio in Puna Cana
De Leon who in those years was received with the Degree of
Arts and Advertising from the University of Santo Domingo
APEC starts selecting the name of the company. Since the
headquarters would be established in the Colonial Zone of
Santo Domingo was born on behalf of Colonial Tour and Travel
and immediately De Leon begins the design of the logo and
slogan of the company and raises the image of the company.
During 1993, the licensing of travel agencies were
prohibited due to saturation in the market AAVV & Events and
the company already formed an alliance with Milly's Travel
temporal becoming "Colonial Tour and Travel by Milly'e
Travel" to be released tourism patents in 1995.
The company starts with a small office in Punta Cana,
representing the Italian Tour Operator Viaggi today Condor
Condor Tour later that year the company became a
correspondent Turisanda another major Italian tour operator
with a huge operation in Puerto Plata and company had the
need to open its second branch this province in the north to
provide greater logistical support to its customers. To
further expand its operations Colonial-alliance decide to
start Milly's central office in Santo Domingo Avenue in the
Americas.
In 1995 Colonial Tour and Travel acquires the license of
tourism and its total independence from Milly's Travel,
moving the headquarters to the Colonial Zone of Santo
Domingo where he is now located. But the company remains
only as a representation company closed to the public until
now.
More and more tour operators were added to the customer
portfolio Colonial Tour and Travel. In 1997 the office opens
in Las Terrenas in Samana hotel in Cocoa Beach where 85% of
guests in this hotel were represented mainly by Colonial
Tour Tour operator now called Orovacanze Italturist.
In the same year 1997, and raised the company Website. They

limited to static images and text, their goal was to place
the image of the company's brand on the market.
During that same year 1997 the company acquired the license
IATA taking the first step for their big opening to the
public, begins selling hotels and packages a native market
and launched a marketing campaign aimed at groups,

continents like Latin America to Europe and America.
In 2000 the Office opens Bayahibe as strategically to
support the operation of Tour Operators rushed massively to
that important destination.
In the year 2001 and the website of the company buys
professional and joins the fad. "Com" interactive Online
hotel reservations for local and international market, the
passing of the years the website of Colonial Tour and Travel
with a record of satisfied customers and almost no claim is
becoming an effective tool for the company. Today is one of
the most important Webs Travel Caribbean and currently holds

tourism portal by Alexa.com most famous Internet statistics.
In 2002 Mr. Edmondo Battaglia a great partner of the firm,
visionary with extensive experience in business brings its
expertise to establish and develop the Colonial Office Tour
and Travel of Boca Chica whose main objective was to
preserve the Italian trade with residents of area and as a
support to attendees at the resorts from Boca Chica to Juan
Dolio.
